Install EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required)

Add XP on the Add OS tab by name, type and drive letter which may autocomplete for you. If prompted accept boot files, Save, reboot to Dual Boot menu.

If these are on separate HD's you can also try booting XP via the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key.

thanks for the reply gregrocker, but as per my knowledge, whatever drive windows is loaded, it lefts some files in C drive also. if so, in my case, does windows XP (F drive) works after c drive formatted and win 7 installed? i'll try with the software you provided also, and i'll provide the result.

Some other options including illustrated steps for using EasyBCD are in Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP - Windows 7 Help Forums starting with the yellow Tip box in Option 2 and then proceeding with Step 8 there.
