    Locked out, corrupt profile?

Hi, I can not login into Windows. Message is: "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded".
All the solutions I have encountered so far assume that I have another adminstrative profile that I can log into and fix the problem but the corrupt profile is the only one I have.
-- Safe mode and Normal mode, no difference. Can't login.
-- Using the Repair disc to activate Administrator does not work.
    I'm stuck, any ideas?

when booting the computer keep on pressing F8, select startup repair and when the menu appears, select command prompt. Type this:
    net user Administrator /active:yes
if that does not unlock the account, follow these steps Built-in Administrator - Enable from WinRE
If you ARE able to unlock the account, tell us and we will continue to help :)

Thanks for the quick reply redfang337. The affected PC is my nephew's and is not in my posession so it will be a few days before I can try the suggestions.
I did however try to simulate (on a healthy Win7 installtion) your suggestion:
F8 - 'Repair your Computer' - asks for my password - System Recovery Options - command prompt - net user ... etc - 'command copmleted successfuly'.
As per my test, This command to activate Administrator profile does not work from within the System Recovery Options. It only works from within a normal or safe mode login and then using the 'cmd' command and 'Run as administrator'. Please correct me if I'm wrong but that was my experience.

    Best regards, Gideon.

that's why i added the extra option, because i wasn't sure if it WOULD work from there, but it does work from safemode and safe mode with with command prompt, i dont think it has anything to do with permissions since it said command completed successfully

Also, if needed, there is a more advanced way to do this, if none of the above trickery works :)

Your original suggestion was to go into Repair option after the F8 key, not the Safe Mode option. So here are my observations based on a healthy system:

    1. F8, Safe Mode - Yes, it works. It requires however a password and a login which will probably fail on the sick PC and thus not a solution.

    2. F8, Repair your computer - command executes successfuly but no administrator option at login time. Also requires a login and a password so that may not work either.

    3. A System Repair Disc, no login required but the command, although executes well, upon exiting and restarting - no trace of the administrator option at login time.

I'm interested in your other, extra and advanced solutions. It will take a few days until a get a hold of the PC, so stay tuned. And thanks again, appreciate your help, G.

No one else has had problems enabling Built-in Administrator - Enable from WinRE from the installer or Repair CD´s command line.

If you cannot access Admin to attempt to repair or create a new profile to move into, then you can try repairs and/or rescue your files using the methods in Fix Unbootable Win7 link in my signature pic below, then if necessarz reinstall.
