Activated RC7100 - CAN I use WIN7 UPGRADE or not?

I have read I can use WIN7 Home Prem Upgrade to UPGRADE my RC7100.
I have read I can't use WIN7 Home Prem Upgrade to UPGRADE my RC7100 and that I have to have RC7600 but I thought was a RTM build?

I am confused. Do I buy an UPGRADE or a RETAIL???

I'd really like one simple answer PLEASE to one simple question...CAN I BUY and use an UPGRADE H/Prem WIN7 to do an inplace UPGRADE of a legally downloaded and activated RC7100? I take it if YES, I have to put in the ISO disc I originally burned as "proof" of originally installed OS?

Did you receive a simple answer?

Hi.. I have the exact same question, but I can't tell if you got an answer ? I seem to recall MS stated that when 7100 comes to an end in March 2010 or before that date, we could use an upgrade purchase of Win 7. That seems only fair to us for all the ......

As far as I know you CAN upgrade from RC to Retail (as long as its like Home Premium to Home Premium, Ultimate to Ultimate, etc).

To your last comment though, why would it be fair for MS to allow you to upgrade from RC to Retail without the need of an activated Retail OS (XP/Vista)?

Windows 7 RC users will be able to install Windows 7 Upgrade discs

Remember to use Windows 7 imaging backup to save an image of your finished installation so that reinstall will never be necessary, since the RC can only be used as the qualifying activated system for Upgrade reinstalls until its expiration June 10.

Still not a simple answer or is it?

It was confirmed today it's March 2010, now it's June. I've come to the conclusion a senior to a junior don't really know .
This whole thing should be sold to Parker Bros. and they could add to the Millions MS is making keeping the players confused.
After 15 years playing the MS games, I've leaving the ship and joining the MAC fellows. I really couldn't handle all the updates from uncle MS for the next 7 years. There coming starting within hours. God Bless...

MS games are better than Apple games.

PC's have better priced hardware, and cheater software. If you want to be simple, go Apple.

    Good luck Wilfj.

When Mr. Jobs permits me to legitimately install the MacOS on a homebuilt PC, I'll join you.

    Or not.

To coin a phrase, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

The official quote that I read is that nag popups start appearing in March and everythings stops in June.

Just in case, you CAN use the RC as a qualified OS to be able to use an upgrade version of Windows 7. The RC must be installed at the time and you will have to do a custom install, which remembers you had the OS installed and then does a clean install.

You will not be asked for any DVD or prior keys during the install process. The prior OS must be installed and activated for the Upgrade DVD version to work.
