Installation: Partition - why a 100MB system partition

Hello, I have started the installation process of windows 7 on a clean 1 TB hard drive. In order to ensure expediency of the read time of my primary drive, I choose the custom installation. When I did I partioned the drive as 250GB & 700GB. Hoever it also created a 100MB system partition on its own. It never did this in Vista. Is it suppose to do that?

100mb SysReserved contains the boot manager and the same tools which are on the Install or Repair disk Repair My Computer console, however this partition makes them available on Advanced Boot Tools via tapping F8 at bootup. System Recovery Options

It can be removed but should not be unless it creates a conflict. It will require marking Windows 7 active and running Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to recover after removing it.

Windows 7 installation wizard will not modify existing partition which already been defined and allocated. The 100 MB BitLocker partiton will only be created when user creates new partition on a clean and empty HDD (no partitions), or delete all partitions and then create a new partition during setup. Thus, system with hard disk already partitioned, and users wish no change to existing partitioning but wish to clean install can just format the partition in Windows 7 setup wizard before installing
