    Sorry.

Created a mountable ISO but not bootable when ImgBurn went to load it to burn.

Isn't Magic ISO what does this? Or UltraISO? I loaded ISO into PowerISO and chose Boot tab but it wants to browse for boot file. At a loss there. I guess that is in the zip file in your tutorial.

Thought there might be an easier way using freeware or trialware. My bad.

If your running a pre-RTM version of 7, the built in iso burner will do this. If not than an app like PowerISO (with the trial) would work

Was trying to create a bootable ISO from 7600 files using freeware/trialware but it needs special files. There is a tutorial several posts above that give a more complex way to actually achieve this, and since it was posted by LIW2 it will work, of course.

Nope. Only special tools built specifically to handle o/s files can make windows installation files into bootable .iso. Not even PowerIso etc.

There is a workaround to use those 3rd party apps - you need to have another 7 iso already, e.g. a previous build. You also need the paid versions if you use PowerIso or UltraIso. If you have all that - it can be done - but there are more steps than in the tutorial.

What is so hard about copying and pasting one file and a line or two of text? As per the tutorial.

    Nada for me.

Others want a shiny freeware app that does it for them, which I try to provide to keep em smilin.

I have not been following this issue since last night. Is the reason this seller provided an .exe because it is supposed to be run from XP/Vista environment anyway?

If so that means even they too must have been in the dark that MS was allowing clean installs from boot with disk. They could have easily provided an ISO, right?

*Joining Discussion* I would believe so. I bet a solution to the issue might be the availability of an ISO in the near future
