Digital River unable to find file 3/3 on the server

    Hello,

so, I went on with buying windows7 for students (german version, since I write this from germany).
Digital River Download manager, downloads the 3 files... 2 of them are fine, but on around 50% of the 3rd file, I get the message that reads something like this:

"The destination file could not be located on the server. Digital River download manager that you are using seems to be outdated. Would you like to visit Digital River Website?"

    Yes / No

When I click on "yes" nothing happens. I REINSTALLED vista completely just minutes ago, and tried downloading it again... same thing. Same error, the download cannot finish.
Anyone else experienced this or with any solution on the matter?

    Regards.

    Finally

Finally there's someone with the same problem: Mein Beileid btw
I am from Germany as well, bought the german 64bit upgrade for students and tried to download it via digital river. At 49% when part 3/3 starts it is stuck complaining that the file can not be found etc. same as above.

My first research has brought up that this error does not seem to be that common... let's hope for some more complaints!

Guys, today is the release day of Windows 7 .. the most anticipated OS in history to date. Is it really surprising that you are having problems downloading? Give it a rest and try during off peak hours... Good Luck..

What is surprising, is that I thought no-one else had this issue. If I notice that its not a user-problem but the problem MS is working on, its cool to wait a bit... :)

Surely, the best thing would be to have the problem resolved, hence this thread...
That being said, I hope you don't take my thread the wrong way...

Lol ... No possible offence taken.. This is going to be a global problem as even MS servers and Digital River servers are going to be bogged down... Have patience and everything will be ok...

    Sweet Information!

I acutally only registered because of this thread. I'm also located in Germany and expierencing the mentioned problem.

Hope they fix that soon, as for my e-mails to the support I didn't recieve any answer yet.

Anyhow I'm glad to see that others have the same problems that I do...

Hello PeterbusUnum and welcome to the forums... MS and Digital River aren't the only people having problems with server load.. we are quickly approaching our server limits as well ... 10k users online at the same time...lol

You'd think that a big and seemingly powerfull company like Microsoft would be able to provide the resources neccassary to satisfy the users needs.

For now I'll be patient but if there is no fix within the 30day downloadlimit I have for this purchase I'm going to get very... very... unpleasant towards MS.

Also I'm aware of the loads of questions their supportchannels must recieve these days but then again, MS must have expected such and should have made sure there were at least enough staff members so that any request could be solved within a certain, let's say 24hours, amount of time.

Well... We'll see, fortunately for them I've lots of other stuff on my mind right now and wouldn't be able to install win7 until sunday anyway.

Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best!

    EDIT: Update!!

I've read that someone redownloaded the Downloadmanager at 23:54o'clock (GMT+1) and had luck with trying again.

To redownload the Manager got to: http://www.findmyorder.com and enter your Ordernumber and Password (both included in the e-mail you recieved from MS [the password is contained within the link which was provided])

I myself won't try this now, because I've also read, that it is not possible to install Win7 from scratch with this download. To do this you'll have to download the Win7Enterprise trial from Technet: http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/evalc…x?ITPID=wtcfeed
(Just enter that you are an IT-Manager and you'll have access)
After downloading you'll have to open the .iso with WinRaR or 7zip (or similar programms) and delet the "ei.cfg" within the source folder.
Now you can burn the image and install Win7 in the Version you've got a key for (i.e. Win7 Home Premium)

This "workaround" wasn't originally my idea so all credit goes to Honesty333 at thinkpad-forum.de

I will test this myself and leave a feedback.

    Greetings
