    Win 7 installation stops

I have a pc that was running XP and all at once when I booted into XP, the desktop would come up and I could not do anything like opening a shortcut, so I decided to install a copy on Win 7 that I had purchased for this pc. It shows "Windows is loading files" then the next screen says "starting windows" and nothing happens after that. I left the pc on that screen for 1 and 1/2 hours and it still was stuck there. I have change motherboards, processors and CDROM and I just can't move along either with XP or installing Win 7.

    Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Are you doing a Clean Install, formatting the drive during the install? If not, try it.

Hard drive may be defective. Does the hard drive show in BIOS Setup?

That's good news. If you can, tell us what you did to resolve this. It may help someone later on.

I was not patient enough to let the files to load! It seemed to be taking to much time and I was in a hurry!
