Dual boot black screen ? (

So i installed win7 prof successfully last night on a seprate partition along side XP. Rebooted couple times and always got boot loader asking which version of windows to boot. Was able to boot into 7 and xp fine. Did normal virus and driver updates. played around a bit and everything seemed fine. Boot times were sometimes long but oh well i thought.

Came home from work and saw my computer had rebooted itself. It was in a state where it was trying to do network boot which means it couldnt boot off of the CD or HD. Tried rebooting but it doesnt seem to boot. when i force to boot from hard drive i get a black screen and nothing happens.

I tried to boot off the win7 disk to do some check disk or other operation to ensure that the hard drive didnt somehow die the same day i did the install. Wont boot off DVD either. I get "starting windows" and then just black screen.

Anyone got any ideas? I am currently booting off xp disk to do check disk but looking for some more info on why i wouldnt be able to boot off the win7 disk. I did some searching however i couldnt find any similar issues but maybe i searched for the wrong things.

Have you got or have you had two monitors plugged in, i spent two days looking at a black screen b4 i figured it was switching to other monitor output halfway thru boot even tho there was nothing plugged in to other port at the time, win 7 always seems to default/prefer a widescreen display if theres been one plugged in at some point
