Repair installation failing
I'd appreciate some help here if possible. My Asus is being a serious jerk after being invaded by some malware stuff thanks to a childish friend of mine. I got rid of most of that ( i think all of it). it seems my registry has been corrupted. The computer is running poorly, driver issues and freezing so i decided to do a repair installation to hopefully save some of my data. I'm pretty sure going about it the right way, being logged in already and running the set up from within the OS. It's not an OEM windows.
It won't let me do the 'Upgrade' using my one and only Win7 enterprise disc, the same installation disc used for the current OS. After it does the compatibility testing it is saying that my current installation is more up to date than the disc. Also it tells me these two drivers should be updated before upgrading:
-Intel Management engine Interface
- ATK0100 ACPI utility.
I checked these and both are allegedly up to date.
(When i do find an available driver update i get either "Access is denied" or "Can not find the file specified".)
I figured I would ask Sevenforums for some advice before i bite the bullet and do a fresh install without backing up data since i don't have the wherewithal to do this currently.
