You saved my butt! Thanks! I don't have a PS/2 port on the back of my current system but going in and enabling the USB in the bios (WTF? It was off? Seriously?!) worked wonders!
I owe you one!

Im having the exact same issue. i dont have a single PS2 port on my computer, so i went out and bought a PS2 to USB converter cable so i could use one of the the old PS2 keyboards i have laying around. This gave me the Ability to access my BIOS finally, unfortunately as soon as my BIOS loads the keyboard locks up, and again i am unable to use the arrow keys to move up down etc. (IE: i am unable to select anything on the BIOS menu)
Is there even a way around this? or am i going to be forced to do a Manual BIOS reset?
Secondly, ive tried using the Boot CD to just reformat to get around this problem, but even the CD drive doesnt seem to kick into gear before the "Windows Resume Loader" screen pops up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Borrow a USB keyboard to do install.
... The PC that im currently working on has no PS2 Slots on it only USB. I have a USB keyboard with it, but that appears to be part of the problem since i cannot even access BIOS with it. the USB keyboard is not broken as i can plug it into other computers i have around here and it works just fine.
Using a USB keyboard makes it so i cant make it a step further in is all. (IE: cant access bios, cant initiate reformatting)
See if you have a BIOS version update as a USB keyboard should work in BIOS.
Most BIOS updates can safely be installed from Windows now.
Can you perform one of these methods: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
Thank you, after popping the CMOS battery and resetting i was finally able to get around windows system loader.
Is there a way to just flat out disable windows resume loader? My laptop is fine and keyboard works at the Windows screen but I always have to choose that one option to delete restoration data. How do I just disable this feature? Anyone know?
same problem here but how do i get to the bios without my keyboard responding?? i have an hp touchsmart. thanks so much
I have the same problem, how do I get into BIOS before I lose keyboard function. (it's a USB keyboard)
I have just come across the exact same problem. It was like the previous person said. In the bios, periferals the USB keyboard was disabled. I enabled it and vola! I was able to get windows to start again ! Windows 7 is the most painful OS i have ever come across! Just sayin!
