    Identified DVD connection

Hello Matt, we have identified your DVD/CD, good job getting the device manager screen shot.
Ok, we have identified your MOBO and your dvd optical storage device.
As we thought the drive is a SATA device so the settings need to be changed in the bios. Also it is possible that your MOBO's chipset drivers are out of date and you need to load the new chipset driver.
First thing first: We are going to update the Mother board, are you ready! First look at the screen shot I uploaded, what you are seeing is the ASSUS support site, ASSUS is the maker of your MOBO. The screen shot at the bootom of the picture is the chipset file specifically for your MOBO, I want you to follow : ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
Down load the update, its the last update on the bottom.

    Chipset update

Matt after you download the chipset update you need to extract it to a folder or location where you know where the set up file is. After that you will need to run the set up file. The set up file will run automatically. After it has installed the new updates and drivers, reboot the system and tell us what happened.

Been out all day today so not had a chance to try this until now, I downloaded the file and updated the chipset but the same problem persists with the DVD drive.

I notice the early comment to update DVD drive firmware was skipped over. Reason?

Here is the link to latest firmware, click Drivers and Software tab on product support page: http://www.lge.com/us/support/produc...roduct-profile

    File attached below:

Follow the ReadMe in the zip file.

I did not skip over it perhaps I was not clear previously, after I had deleted the driver and let windows find the drive after a fresh boot to no avail at that point I then tried installing the drive from the LG website still no change with the problem.
