Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

Additional Tests:Post a screenshot of Crystal Disk Info summary:

Golden, I don't even get to the languages screen. crashes at 'starting windows'. AddRam, I'm using the original install disk for this machine. BlueRobot, I wondered about that. I'm trying a different hard drive now.

you were right. must have been another faulty drive I tried. new one installed, set up continues as normal. thanks for the advice.

Sometimes updating the firmware helps, but we do see a steady stream of bad new SSD's.

You probably are aware that these will always be RMA'd by the manufacturer within the first year. Sometimes it's good to get them involved in testing to set that up.
