That is my understanding.

Also keep in mind that any motherboard can be defective. Getting a defective board does not mean the whole line is bad, or that the motherboard design is bad, just that the individual board you got was a bad one. Happens.

Most likely if there was a design flaw or global manufacturing defect in the motherboard you bought you would see lots of the same complaints in the reviews. But if no one else is complaining about SATA ports not working then you can probably rest assured that it is a one off problem.

That is probably the case but once I get a bad taste I tend to look for an alternative. Doesn't mean I'll write Giga off entirey. It did tend to get good reviews. Don't even know if they're available anymore.
It's beyond Neweggs 30 days so I'm waiting for Giga's reply. Can't imagine it being all that great a transaction considering the board cost $50 and they'll probably charge me to send it to them. Pretty sure I finally threw out the box and swag once the SSD became 'stable'.
Not really worth my time so I'll probably just get another board.

I prefer A75 (SATA III). Newegg gives typical reviews "great! works!" and "DOA! Sucks!"

I personally prefer the MSI but the Biostar has the sata III you're looking for.

YOu prefer MSI because of the brand? \

What is the deal w/memory compatibility? I'm looking at a board and it has 1 kingston, 1 crucial and 2 team for 1866 DDR3. How on Earth do you buy a MB when you already have memory? I can see buying a board and using spec'd parts/memory but otherwise.....

I assume this just means they tested that particular memory.

Same thing w/HD. WTH. My samsung SSD will NOT work w/a particular MB or it's just that the drivers will have to be loaded when the drive is installed?

Another Q...The case is microATX and the board is a microATX as well but there is a good amount of room in the case and the standoffs don't even line up. I had to leave one corner unsupported.
Will mini ITX work in this case?

It looks like it will work and I'll have mucho excess space.
Don't necc want an ITX board but options are limited.

chip not supported

I'm looking another board. Bio.
The only supported A6 chip is
FM1 AMD A6 3500 AD3500OJZ33GX 2100Mhz N/A 65W

My chip is exactly that except for the model # which is
AD3500OJGXBOX

INCOMPATIBLE?

Don't mix RAM , especially from different manufacturers, it will cause issues. One thing is all RAM will default to the slowest stick that is installed. Some RAM companies publish a list of boards they've tested with, G. Skill is very good at this.

Most RAM is compatible with all boards, yeah it is what has been tested that shows on the compatibility lists.

Is there another hole to put a stand off in for a mATX board? If it's a mATX case it will work. Mini ITX boards are very, very tiny, barely wide enough to fit a DDR3 standard stick in.

A SSD should work fine on any board that has SATA ports, they are all interchangeable, backward compatible, e.g. a SATA III SSD will run in a SATA II port.

Personally I have had bad experience with both MSI and Biostar. Biostar I think are very low end boards and MSI support was very, very poor with my bad board and a GPU.

You can check for yourself on the manufacturer's site for what is/is not compatible, that's what we do or use Google.

As for the A6 chip, look on the chip for the model number, that's what they show in compatibility lists. The model AD3500OJGXBOX isAMD's number for a boxed chip with the cooler.
