    hp pavilion dv7-1428 ca

I have this laptop dv7-1428ca and I bought a larger hard drive and it won't load windows 7 inside the bios it says installed vista operating system and I put a vista disk in to see the partition and it reads on 30mb not the what the drive is. So basically I'm trying to install W7 and it is not allowing me not if its missing DLL file but I'm stumped on what to try next.

So you have installed Vista using HP Recovery disk? yes.
Use the the HP Windows 7 Recovery disk to install Windows 7.
    What is the COA for?

Where did you get Win7? How is the installer burned/formatted? If in doubt use the one for your licensed Win7 version provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Reset the BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Is the HD detected in BIOS and set as first boot device? If so then reboot and tap the key given on first screen for BIOS Boot Menu

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.
