I can install W7, but not reboot

Okay, so I've just installed W7 64bit on a Dell Vostro 3560 twice and both times I fail to reboot the computer. After trying to reboot, it's impossible to start windows. The dell logo appears with a small white bar, then the screen turns black with a cursor on the top left for a split second before rebooting again. It's stuck like this in a infinite loop and there is no way to start windows again I figured that something with the drivers or windows update must have failed so I re installed W7 only this time I rebooted the computer immediately after finishing the installation, same thing happened. I've never experienced such a problem before, does anyone have any tips to give?

Check if you have a newer BIOS update. Reset the BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Make sure you set the HD first to boot then trigger the installer using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key. Remove the installation media after install.

Wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command from the installer's Command Line before doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Take the time to read the Reinstall link carefully so you get it perfect.

    Hi Plecto,

Kindly follow the steps suggested by Greg which should resolve the issue at hand. You should also ensure while booting the system that there is no disk in the drive and also no USB devices are attached to the system.

You can also perform a diagnostics on the system to ensure there are no hardware issues with the system:

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Thanks for the replies, but it actually works now. I installed it a third time and made sure that no discs were in the drive and it works. I had a disc in the drive the last time I tried, but taking it out made no difference. I'm currently installing windows update, I hope it keeps working. I will try the steps mentioned if something were to fail again though. Thank you :)
