A dvd burner doesn`t just change from a dvd burner to a cd only burner.

What is the exact make and model of the dvd burner ?

Thanks for a quick reply :)
It says on the sticker ( on top of the burner ) TSSTcorp ts-h492c.
I've used it before burning back ups, I don't know why it won't let me burn DVDs anymore.

The description says that a TSST TS-H492C DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive is a dvd player and a cd re writable drive, not a dvd burner.

And it has the correct icons on the front of the dvd drive ? And you still have the same burning software installed ?

Yeah, that's why I posted a picture on that other forum of Nero info tool and what my computer says it isn't?
Doesn't a DVD player/burner have a EEPROM? Anyway to reflash it or rewright it?

Ya you can update the firmware, if possible.

That Nero info tool shot shows red x`s under the W meaning it doesn`t write, where as mine shows green check marks below the W

I have about a dozen of them, here you can have one

But seriously, it looks like you`ll have to buy one, they are cheap

I have about 10 good ones, but they are all IDE

I`ll replace my sata dvd burner with a Blu-Ray combo player someday, but for now I have no use for one.

    This one does it all.
