2xg has a job that keeps her very busy, I'm retired and have prenty of time.

If you and I can't get this figured out, I welcome other members input.

For now though it's just you and me.

I'll let you know if I've exhausted my bag of tricks.

This is the post I missed.

They've downloaded and now they're installing. I will wait on the check for updates. I will let it finish installing though. I will wait on unplugging ethernet. What now? . . or do we need to wait on this current WU install to proceed?

How's your Step Dad - waiting for the cable?

edit: missed your post about using the cable.

But I still want to wait on any more WU.

In other words, do not check for updates this time.
Oh, you can skip disconnecting the cable too

They'll help you buy the correct cable. since it will be for "emergency" use only, you don't need the Rolls-Royce of cables - but you don't want a bargain basement cable either. Buy one, take it home, test it. If it works, it will again work when you need it. If it doesn't work, take it back and tell teh store "I think you sold me the wrong cable"

Wait for this batch to finish.

Then you can try a different workaround for the wireless connection.

Let me look back, I think you already posted a Device manager screenshot.

The ISP technical support guy changed my network to Emerald5. Shouldn't the name of the home network in the snip posted above be Emerald5 as well?

Ok, I'll look at Acer site again. I don't remeber seeing a Realtek wireless drive.

It doesn't mean there isn't one, it means I can't remember

It will take only a few minutes.
