Doing I clean install of Windows 7, what partition do I delete?

    Hi,
In the process of doing a clean install of Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 1545. Following these steps on these link: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operat...all-part-1.htm
I'm up to this step (see attached image).

What partition do I delete on step 11?

All advice and help is welcome,

    Patty

    It's upside down. LOL.
Partition 3 looks likely. Not familiar with that link you posted.

Lol Should preview before submitting. Thanks for speedy reply! So I don't touch partition 1 and partition 2 for now?

Sorry for the newbie questions but I don't want to mess up.

    Thanks,
    Patty

I don't want to confuse you, but here is the Clean Install Windows 7 tutorial that we have here. == On your question. Do you have a Windows 7 DVD that you are using to do the install? Have you backed up all of your files? If the answer is yes to both, then go ahead as Theog says below and just format the whole disk and install.

If you are clean installing, I would say, delete all partitions.

I would tend to agree that part. 3 is the one to install the o.s. on as that one looks like it has the most available space. and bigmck is right; as you really should do a clean install with windows 7 as you probably will encounter less issues doing it as a clean install(it MAY not eliminate all issues, but should eliminate most).

    part 1: 62-53=9MB used?
part 2: 12.2-8.5=3.7GB . Not enough for RECOVERY as far as I can imagine.

You want to clean install? If so, delete ALL partitions!

Check "device manager" for 'other devices' and devices without drivers. Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices
Missing drivers for your DELL inspiron 1545 can be found on Drivers & Downloads | Dell US

Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Be sure to read the Special Note for Dell Owners at the end. I would first test Dell Diagnostics to see if it will boot and run from the F12 key at boot, to run both "Diagnostics" and/or the "Utility partition". If so then I would keep the first partition since having onboard DIagnostics which tests all hardware is valuable.

So if Diagnostics boot and run save only the first partition, delete the other two using the Drive Options pictured in Steps 7/8 of the illustrated steps for Clean Install Windows 7,
then create a New partition in the space for Win7, format and click Next.
