windows7 BOOTMGR IS MISSING - windows disk now not working.

    i have a Dell Inspiron Laptop, N5110.

I have 32 bit windows installed on my PC. The hard drive failed on me so i had to replace it with another one. We tried to install 64 bit but it just wouldnt work. We tried about 4 different installation disks, including one on a usb stick. After being able to install windows xp, we upgraded it to windows 7 because its been so long since ive worked with xp i couldnt remember how to use it.

We couldnt find the drivers for most of the things on their. Only a few and some of the 64 bit worked on one of two of them aswell. we managed to get the internet through the ethernet cable but not wireless because we couldnt find the drivers anywhere so i decided to sell it faulty explaining that it works but named a few problems which can be fixed, being able to spend time on it.

For some reason, the driver which allowed me to use the ethernet cable to access the internet uninstalled itself. I left it and havent used it since around October/November time.

We tried to install windows professional last night but it kept showing an error so we tried to bypass it by watching this youtube video. Windows 7 load driver bypass quick fix / installation ''http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo7tyFFjSsA&feature=gp-n

But it came up with the same error so we gave up. Turned it off and it was still working but using 32 bit.
I got another disk for home premium which is what the laptop originally come with, to see if it would work. All was looking fine and i got to the stage of '' expanding windows files 0% '' . after that, it said windows can not install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. ERROR CODE 0x80070017.

This is confusing because he has used this disk many times at work in his repair shop and has never had any problems with it before.

When i restarted the laptop, it just says BOOTMGR IS MISSING and i can not do anything else now.

I do not have another version of windows and i cant get to the repair stage from the disk because it fails to work now.

I have just sold this laptop on ebay and the poor soul has just paid for it. So i really need some help so i can send it off to him asap.

    Thankyou for any help!!

The only drivers posted for that model at Drivers & Downloads | Dell US are for 64 bit Win7, although I still install 32 bit on 4gb or less RAM for better performance, and we will help you make it work whichever you decide to use.

Put your wireless or ethernet network LAN driver in the backup so that if it's not provided you can install it to get online, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates until no more are offered when you Check for Updates. Then import any drivers still missing in Device Manager from the Dell webpage, or search via Google or ask back here for our help.

Plug in by ethernet cable to your router or modem so your chance of getting network driver during install is increased.

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup by tapping the Dell F2 key at boot, reset to defaults, save changes.

Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. I would use a fresh ISO written with tool in Step 2 as yours is in question.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box, type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
    CLEAN
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
    ACTIVE
    EXIT
    EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of wiping the HD and marking Active which overcomes certain install failures.

This is confusing because he has used this disk many times at work in his repair shop and has never had any problems with it before.
Have him test the motherboard in the shop.

For a quick test boot the DELL manufacturer's diagnostic tools CD.

He may not have Diagnostics or the Utility Partition (Contains more bootable diagnostics) on the F12 boot menu if it is a new HD and Factory Recovery was never run.

However it can be downloaded and run from Dell PC Diagnostics | Dell US
    once OS is installed.

If you have Diagnostics on board the F12 menu, run them first to confirm hardware status. But you may still need to wipe the HD to overcome the error if it finds no clear hardware cause.
