Please answer what type of Upgrade key you have:

Anytime Upgrade cannot be used to do a Clean Install, or to upgrade from XP or Vista.

It would need to be a retail Win7 Upgrade disk to upgrade Vista or XP.

What is in the Upgrade package? It should have a product key. Does it also have a disk? Can you boot that disk and does it proceed as shown in Clean Install Windows 7 ?

Not sure, first I heard of that.

If you really want a Japanese version, I think I have it. Which bit version?
Microsoft Japan confirmed it in the recorded call.

I need the 64-bit version. But its impossible to get hold of I thought (I have searched and searched)?

Amazing, if you have a Japanese version. I even searched the EXTREMELY COMPLICATED Japanese web sites for an ISO.

The Ultimate Upgrade is indeed only a product code, and comes in a small box that looks like it would have a mini-dvd in it; but doesn`t.

It is a Japanese ISO of Windows 7 I need. (I assume the eicfg version alterer would work [if required]). (It worked on the English version of W7 I am currently running).

I really would prefer Microsoft Japan to do what Europe was forced to do after being forced into the Courts and fined (and what Microsoft already allowed the USA to do) and that is "Allow customers to download and install a copy of the software the customer has bought after the OEM licence has expired" after one year (warranty depending).

Microsoft Japan is the only country in the world that still refuses to do that. Unless you can dig deeper and fine any other example.

The OEM license never expires, just the warranty on the hardware and tech support. You can still buy Recovery Media, and should be able to Clean Reinstall with the Product Key if you find the correct installer.

Are you attempting to reinstall Home Premium which came with the laptop, so you can Anytime Upgrade back to Ultimate?

SIW2 offered to help you find a Japanese ISO earlier. You may have missed it like you missed my post yesterday. Try to focus on the task at hand because we are normally able to resolve these when the consumer is not distracted.

Toshiba (Japan) tell us they do not sell nor provide recovery media out of warranty. Like I said in my previous posts. Toshiba will only sell us a hard drive with the same copy of Windows 7 (Home Premium x64 Japanese on it) for the equivalent of $350 if we post the laptop to them.
But I have already bought the SSD.

Microosoft will not and do not sell the software Recovery media.
