    Virtual pc help


    Hi all i came across a windows 7 add on called virtual PC, i downloaded from Microsoft, anyway been trying to virtually install Linux mint 16 but doing something wrong because everything just seems to stop doing anything below ???



    booting from an iso image, i had been trying to boot from dvd but that too didnt work at all ?

    It is because Virtual PC only supports XP, Vista, and 7. If you want to run Mint Mate, you will need a alternative like VirtualBox and VMWare.

    Not true - VPC 2007 will support many more OS's than that.
    However, Windows Virtual PC may not (I've never tried) - you can, however install VPS 2007 into Win7, and it should work fine.

    will check out Virtualbox and VMWare thought i was going mad today lol grrr, do u still have to validate xp in Virtual PC ?

    I was referring to the new Virtual PC. Download Windows Virtual PC from Official Microsoft Download Center Look under details.

    Yes and no. If you somehow have a key, you could activate it. But if not, you could just reset it every month.

    edit after looking for this VPC/VPS? 2007 lol let u know
    If you're referring to XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC, then it is pre-activated - but will still require periodic validation.

    Why not just run it off a flash drive.

    That`s all I do with Mint

    What program did you try/use to burn the iso to dvd ?

    either NTI cd dvd maker 7 or blu ray disk suit cant remember ........ never done a flash drive thing ? is this same as a usb drive
