No Installers Work at all, Not Even Official Installers

As the title says, not a single installer works, even official installers for programs, I trued using the Microsoft FixIt Tool, which shockingly worked, and it said there are no problems so no fixes were made. I also do not have a virus because I have three antivirus programs, and also use Chrome for everything, for example:

I tried downloading VLC Media Player from videolan.org which is the official site, and I get an NSIS error, so I wait until the next day, and tried again, yet the same thing happens, I also tried downloading it through FireFox as well, and I still get the same error, nothing works for me, what do I do? I also cannot pay anything to buy full versions, as I am a 17 year old broke man. Please and thank you for all help.

What is the exact error wording given? You can troubleshoot these by googling the verbatim error message to study how others have solved it.

In addition run SFC /SCANNOW Command, Report back results. You may need to run it up to 3 times to repair bad system files.

If this is the original Dell factory preinstall then that is a grossly inferior install to begin with, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities that interfere better versions built into Win7. Now would be a good time to do what most tech enthusiasts do and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything needed is in the blue link, and you'll get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with the tools and methods given.

Try running Malwarebytes Free just to make sure. I also reccomend that you uninstall every av except of Avast. Multiple AVs cause more problems than solve problems.

I'm uninstalling all the other antivirus , I'll miss you AVG shredder, however BitDefender has said it failed yet says it completed, will run the sfc command and update this post when uninstalls are completed.

UPDATE: I successfully uninstalled AVG and BitDefender, I ran the sfc/verifynow command just to check twice, and both times it said that there was nothing wrong, and I'm scared to do the complete re-install, because I have games on my laptop and I don't wish to lose my progress in them, any more ideas?

BIG UPDATE: It seems that the antivirus programs were causing the issue, due to the command prompt SFC command not finding anything, and the download that previously failed suddenly works after AVG and BitDefender were uninstalled. Will mark as solved and also I thank you all who helped.

This is why most of us recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, so I would make sure you've run the uninstaller for each of those problem AV's and then install MSE and run a full scan.

Silent Installers
I downlaoded RT 7 Lite (windows 7 equivalent to vLite) and there is an option to intergrate programs into the installation. It says it needs to be silent installers though. Can i turn any program installer to a silent installer, or take my installed programs, and make a silent installer out of...

Installers that add to the Start menu, in XP
I have some program installers that, in XP, put a folder of shortcuts into the >> All programs menu (actually into the folder C:\Documents and Settings\DarkStar\Start Menu\Programs). When I run that installer in Windows 7, where, if anywhere, will that folder of shortcuts be placed?

Installers not starting from outside OS drive
I have some installers that worked fine in XP but don't install when run from outside the OS partition. All 4 I tried should be NSIS-type installers(but it does not apply to all NSIS installers, the Imgburn one runs fine outside OS partition): mkx.y.9.exe - Haali Media Splitter...

Installers. Why?
This thread is just a pondering, not a real technical question. That's why I've put it here. Sorry if it's in the wrong place! New poster here. :D Why use installers? A recent experience has made me question the purpose of installers in general. Why not just have big Zips that you unzip into...
