Unable to access System Recovery in Boot Menu, and unable to boot disk

    Win 7x64
    Acer-5251

Everything seems to be working fine, but as the title suggests, when i tap F8 the Advanced boot options DO appear, but when i engage "Repair Windows" it just goes into a normal boot. Ive tried booting from my installation CD that i've purchased from Acer, but does nothing. And Yes My CD Drive is working, as well having this set as top priority in BIOS and CD is in good condition.

In addition to this, ive tried using the "Advanced Recovery options" from within Windows itself but when i go to click restart computer, i get an error message, with red-x, stating windows is unable to restart.

Additional info that may be relevant, is that a few months ago, i had a friend work on my computer, because windows wouldnt boot at all. When My laptop was returned to me, everything was fresh, but there was missing programs etc...He said, he had to format the hard drive to get it up and running again.

Anyway i appreciate any help as to what i should i do next, or answer any questions you may have-Thank-you!

Please also post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image
so we can see the configuration.

Does the existing DVD boot in another PC and show the System Recovery Options?

If not then try burning another disk provided in first step of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, which details the standards for having a perfect Win7 install. If that disk fails, use the tool provided to write the ISO file to bootable flash stick. If that fails to boot report back exactly what happens, power down to unplug DVD drive to attempt booting stick again.

Set hard drive first to boot in BIOS setup, trigger flash stick or DVD using Acer F12 or F10 one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

If these all fail, then reset the BIOS to defaults, save and exit. Try booting disk or stick again.

Theog: I Will let you know what type of disk he used as soon as i find out..

Greg: Hope you dont mind that i went ahead and posted this screen-shot before trying the other possible solutions. Maybe it can shed some light.

I will do as you suggested, and try My Acer Disk in another machine, burning/trying another disk, then proceeded trying to boot from a flash-drive(iso)etc. **But for the record, i was able to run my installation disks a few months ago(all 5) and they all ran fine without any hiccups.

Unless you have anything else you would like to add to this, im going to get started on burning that disk now. Thankyou!

**Even though the disks ran fine and completed is process, Windows would hang when it went to reboot in the final phase of installation. Tried x2.

No need, the ACER DVD was not used, the ACER Recovery has been deleted from the HDD.

So what does this mean? Im a little in the dark at this point. Should i continue with Gregs instructions, and burn a DVD or would that be useless since WinRe has been deleted? In other words, im asking what i should do next? Or am i S.o.l because WinRe has been deleted? Please advise me! Thankyou!

If your only problem is that System Recovery Options wont boot from F8, then try running Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times to see if it will rewrite the hotlink to F8 from WinRe. WinRE is located on C, not on Recovery partition.

You first referred to a Win7 installation disk. Now you say there were 5 disks "that all ran fine" but didn't complete the installation? Which is it? An installation disk installs only the OS, the Recovery Disks install the factory mess.

But it doesn't appear you ran Factory Recovery which requires all those disks because it contains the bloatware, as it would have reinstalled the Recovery partition which is absent in your screenshot.

What I would do now is follow the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Use the latest official installer burned to DVD with tool provided. First make sure the Product Key on the bottom of laptop is readable since it will be needed to activate Win7.

Boot the DVD, during the CUstom install delete all partitions using the Drive Options shown in Steps 7/8 of the illustrated steps in Clean Install Windows 7 . If there are any further problems report back the exact error message and step where failure occurred. There are steps here for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums.
