Help with transfering windows 7 from one pc to another

My computer recently took a turn for the worst and I got another computer from a buddy of mine, I would like to transfer my old OS to the one I got and I cannot find a definitive way to do this without having the old computer running. Any help would be appreciated, I can post any more information that you need. thanks.

Does your old computer have an OEM Windows license? Another type of license? Does that PC have a Certificate Of Authenticity sticker on it somewhere, with a 25 character Product Key?

Buddy's computer has no operating system at all?

How about filling out your system specifications as shown in the lower left of your post. All it says is desktop Windows 7.

You have to put the hard drive in the pc you just got then reinstall windows, you don`t wanna just put the hard drive in there and fire it up, it may or may not boot, but that is not the proper way to do it.

Just reinstall windows once you have the hard drive installed.

    Clean Install Windows 7

If it has a COA somewhere on the pc, you can use that to activate windows. But you must install the version of windows on that COA in order to use it for activation.
