refurbished laptop how can i reinstall

    hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me out here?
my son in law has brought a second hand laptop that is refurbished & has a genuine key on the bottom. that states windows 7 home premium for refurbished pc's.....
now I'm wanting to do a clean install but I only have my own genuine disk which is also windows 7 home premium.
his laptop did not come with a disk so I'm wondering if I can do a reinstall using my disk but only putting the key in that is on the bottom of the laptop am I able to do this or will I have problems activating it???
hope someone is able to help me out with this
    many thanks Ray

p:s laptop was originally windows vista business dell but I guess this was wiped off when it came to resale.

Use your disk to re install windows and use the key on his COA to activate windows.

You have 30 days to activate windows, no need to rush.

Get the network (ethernet) drivers from the manufacturer`s website of his laptop and put them on a usb stick or a cd so you can install them on the laptop so you can get to the internet and run windows update

Most laptop drivers have to be gotten from the manu`s website, just go to support & drivers and input his model in the search bar.

    Clean Install Windows 7

So you have a Dell Windows 7 COA, & a Dell Windows Vista COA,
You can only use the Dell Windows Vista to reinstall.

Follow these same steps to prepare for and do a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you have 4gb or less RAM use Win7 Home Premium x86 SP1 English Official ISO download.
If you have more than 4gb RAM use Win7 Home Premium x86 SP1 English Official ISO download
Burned to DVD or flash stick using tool in Step 2 of tutorial.

Read the Special Note for Dell Owners at the end of tutorial. I would test the Diagnostics and Utility Partition choices on the F12 boot menu to see if it will run the full diagnostics suite which is valuable to keep. If so save only the first partition. If not delete all partitions during the Clean Install Windows 7 using the Drive Options in Steps 7/8.

Ask back if you have any questions. The closer you stick to the steps in the tutorial, the longer you'll keep a perfect install.
