Windows 7 fails to install - Required CD/DVD device dri

I'm trying to install either the 32bit and 64bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium via DVD onto my system. I am booting from the DVD and setup automicatically runs.

The Windows 7 setup GUI loads and it allows me to choose the language settings and then I get a prompt for,

    LOAD DRIVER
"A Required CD/DVD device driver is missing...."

    My System is
    ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64FX-55
    3GB RAM
    ASUS DRW-1814BLT DVD-RW drive (SATA)
2 x Hitachi Deskstar 250GB HDD in Serial ATA RAID 0

I have tried multiple drivers but there is nothing on the ASUS website for the DRW-1814BLT only a firmware upgrade which I have done.
This is extremely frustrating as both the motherboard and DVD-RW driver are from ASUS but there doesn't seem to be any support for Windows 7 on the download site.

My system passes the Windows 7 upgrade Advisor Report

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated

Well I have had an even more interesting experience. I downloaded it yesterday and had all sorts of problems today that people were unable to remedy. I redownloaded it and I thought I was on a winner, until I hit exactly the problem you described.

At least finally someone else has the same problem!

Just for confirmation are you trying to install the student deal too? I'm on XP 32bit trying to install 7 pro 64bit.

EDIT: for the record the full problem says:

No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.

If you click this off or click ok you have the opportunity to re-scan or browse.

Where did you get your media? Is this a store bought DVD or did you download it? If you downloaded it, was it an iso or was it a student download that you had to convert to an iso?

    Known Issues

The following are known issues with the OEM release:
    • Redundant Array, if the bios is set to AHCI installation will fail, this is known for Intel MOBO's and AMD MOBO's are not immune to this issue!
    • The Student "BLUE PLATE SPECIAL" is missing vital drivers for media install. IE: CD/DVD Drivers. (There is a workaround for this issue)
    • Bootable issues exist, where the media must be configured as priority boot! Workaround for this is when system boots use F-5 or F-8 to set boot priority.
Standing by for system specs, 10/10 on the side.

Normally this means you need to start the disk from boot to overcome the error.

Since you can use Upgrade media to clean install, and boot is the cleanest possible install, consider backing up your files and doing a format install following this tutorial: Clean Install Windows 7

Whoever provided the disk or download also owes you tech support.

    MS has excellent tech support.

Digital ****creek is probably bought out by MS by now and had a hundred million thrown into their tech support.

Try it! It's free and you paid for it. Tech support can actually be worth more than the price of the OS in the education you get - it's how I got mine.

This is a retail version of Windows 7. Using both the 32bit & 64bit DVDs

Retail MS gets you their tech support. The number is on the disk.
