Bullk updates (142) problems on a new installation

    Hello
I posted here because this is a problem on a new installation rather than a regular update probleme. Sorry if I misplaced this post.

    First the problem
I have Windows Seven Ultimate SP1

For two months everything was to hyper slow, to click a file asked 2 or 3 minutes, to open even more.
Obviously I checked the memory, as well as the presence of virus and malware with three various methods, without results.

So I decided to make "Repair Install" which had been a fantastic solution in past.

The repair Install with SP1 (I had made a dvd) went really smootly and well, the problem seemed settled, everything was fine.

Obviously, there were tons of Windows Updates to be made. The previous times, Windows update proposed bunch from 10 to 20 updates, wich was boring.

This time it proposes me a block of 142 updated (in one step). Waw! I was surprised but (naively) believed that it now possible. As said in the past it was done in several times.

I did as suggested, he 142 updates, and let the thing go.

So it does. Result : Windows becomes absolutely inaccessible (no possible way to get in a session), and opening make a loop (even in safe mood, furthermore no restaure option avalaible)

Now you may go to my questions, furter, or here are the problems details.

In detail here is what arrived.
I let the pc updating overnight, the long installation was going well, the restart also, until the " configuration of your desktop" which seems blocked at about 32 % (for more than one hour), finally, I have message I "configuration of your destop failed " and "Windows re-configures as before then will reboot (not sure about the wording)

Thrilling! So every stage, (installation, configration, configuration undo and reboot ) begins again and again, without letting any access neither to a Windows session or repair. Safe mood have the same loop and was not opening, no repair or restaure tool avalaible. Always the Window want to install update, do, undo and reboot, again and again.

After about twelves of these (very long) restarts, I eventually use my Windows repair disk, to try a Restoration. I had created a point before this exciting 144 update bulk, and there was two others, but al three fail (error ex80070067)

Finally two or three more other restart later, I have just reached Windows...

Everything goes well... But, of course, Window Update proposes again to install these 142 updates again.
I fell less confident about it.

    My questions:

1 - Is not there wayto download these 142 update (in a cumulative file or so) or at least, to select those who are essential of those who are not really?

2 - And if I really have to download these 142 updates, how proceed to avoid that this problem reproduces?

3 - If I want to put back IExplorer 11, (with this repair install I have 7 as on the DVD), I may do it in one step or I have to install 8 , then 9, then 10 in the order?

4- How come nobody at Microsoft has never thought of making up to date version for Windows including updates to download (for licensed user). Doing installation (clean or repair or updates) Windows looks for update and it is long... so why arent they there ???

Honestly, I who was quite found of Windows Update finds that it is little "dangerous" to throw us a bunch of update thant can cause such a problem. Prowe could get without any updates at all

Thank you for reading... And sorry I a feel somewhat irritated. :)

You can slipstream them into the win7 installation files and then recompile the ISO to burn another disk or write to flash stick. In fact if you use a flash stick installer you can just swap out the existing Sources>Install.wim file with the new one, boot it and continue: Update 7 installation media - Windows 7 Help Forums

Otherwise I've never had problems with installing a huge batch of Updates but you might have better luck breaking them up in to smaller groups, with reboots. I'd also start by Checking for Updates, installing the drivers under both Important and Optional after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3), since the smooth functioning of the PC might depend upon these and Performance Updates under both categories.

If you have performance issues and have not yet done a perfect reinstall then I'd follow these same steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 so you can experience, perhaps for the first time, native Win7 performance.

Hi Gregoger and sorry for the delay.
I was busy updating by small buch... and trying to work meanwhile. N

Now it is over, and everything seems fine.

I'll try to make an "up to date" installation DVD... but really wishe it was avalaible for download in one piece.
Thank you for your time and help.
