    win 7 on external drive

Is there a tutorial that would tell me how to load Win 7 on a external hd thur a usb port? I have everything I think loaded on the drive just need to install it. I think I need to partition the drive and I don't know how to do it. So bad to be old and try to learn something new. I thought I would install win 7 on a external drive and play with it and then install on my main hd after I know what I am doing. Thanks for all ur help

Your system specs say you are already using Windows 7???

Hmmmm..............I don't think you will get Windows going from an external drive.

If you want to "play" with Windows 7, your options would be to do a dual boot (Windows 7 and whatever OS you have now) or to use a "virtual machine".

If you are inexperienced with either of those, I'd say you are better off "biting the bullet" and installing Windows 7 on your primary internal drive----particularly if you are now using Windows XP.

What operating system are you using now? Why can't you stay with it and why are you reluctant to use Windows 7?

See here: How To Install Windows 7 On USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive

I've never done it but it's worth a look.

Everything you need to know is right here, just make a partition on your main drive or throw in a cheap 40 GB drive to play around on, trying to do it on an external will just stress you out and there`s no point in trying
