    Success !!

So, four (4) hours ago I left for church and the install was still running, installing features and updates when I left. When I returned home the computer was asleep. Upon wakeup the "Type your Windows product key" page of the install displayed. God is so good ! It is aparent that the install completed beyond the "Setup cannot continue...." error from before. Right now I am installing the 150 or so updates.

IE 32bit opens as it should. I do not know about the addins yet. I will know more tomorrow.

I knew that this technique worked on my XP and had no reason to doubt it would work on Win 7 all without a complete format and reinstall from scratch..... and I'm satisfied it's fixed.

You should really install Internet Explorer 10 :)
That would not have fixed the problem caused mostly by Conduit and it seems to be running smooth now.
