Yeah, I was considering registering and starting a thread there now.
Yeah, you don't want to boot from it if you want to do an upgrade install.

Start at option four here,

Upgrade Install to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1

Yeah, I'm following everything in Option Four, but in steps 9 and 10 it doesn't account for if I DO have issues that were found. So it doesn't help a whole lot.

Maybe if I can just get around it telling me that I'll need to reinstall my language packs. Like, maybe I could remove the language packs that aren't compatible so that's not even an issue. Is that feasible?

Yeah, that's a good idea, you can uninstall them from windows update,

Windows Update - Uninstall an Update

I'm a little confused though, you said you booted the disc but the directions in option four explain it needs to be done from within windows.

I attempted booting it at one point, but when I tell it that I want to upgrade it says I need to do that inside of Windows 7 and that's as far as I got with that.

Ok, I'll try to uninstall the language packs

Alright, when I go to uninstall the language packs, it seems to list different things than the update history does.

Your top screenshot are the installed ones. What is on the right side of the bottom screenshot?

The bottom one looks like available updates to me.

OK, you are just going to have to sift through all your installed updates.

Some are the language packs for the OS, others are IE11 languages, since the win 8 installer didn't specify which, I'd get rid of all of them.

Do you use any of them? You can always hide an unwanted optional update like that if you don't need it.

Alright, I'll go through and do that.

No, I don't ever need them haha
But at one point or another I guess I thought it'd be worth sitting through hours of updating for *shrug* lol
