Upgrade from vista to 7 big issue

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and I landed here because of a weird issue with my recent upgrade. Once my vista to 7 upgrade was complete I was brought to the user account log on page. One problem. The only account listed is one called "other user" that I never created on vista or 7. Further more it's requiring a user name and password. I had two accounts on vista that don't even exist on 7. I never had a password to any account. I now have a fresh copy of 7 that I can't log on to. Any thoughts?

I don't know if this will work, but you can try it:
hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete combination twice in a row. You should get a screen where you manually type in 'user name'.

No go on the ctrl+alt+delete. Good thing I backed up important stuff incase I need to do a clean install. Just sucks I'm going to lose my applications.

Familyguy, check method 3 in this tutorial. Reset User Account Password - Vista Forums[11]=User%20Accounts
    Worked for me.
Having said that, I would still recommend a clean install, might save you headaches later.

Thanks for the reply. It seems that would probably work but it seems I need to dl and burn an iso and I have no other computer at my disposal currently. I'm using my iPod touch to talk here...lol. I will do a clean install because of the reason you mentioned plus others. Thank you.

I agree, a clean install is the best way to go in the long run. It takes more time but when your through, you have pure 7.

A clean install went perfectly, which was expected I guess. I installed W7 on a virtual machine before I even did the upgrade and everything ran great there too. It was just the upgrade that was weird.

    Thanks for the feedback Familyguy
One more evidence of the clean install advantage.
