I am currently running Vista Business 64 bit OEM. I would like to install Windows 7 Home Premium UPGRADE on this machine and would not mind doing a complete reformat and clean install (backing up is not a problem).
I have read that I will have to install Windows 7 Professional OVER Windows Vista Business and cannot install Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade.
My questions are as follows:
Can I buy Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, reformat my main partition where Vista Business is and clean install Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade on the clean, reformatted drive? I read you can do full/clean installs with Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. Yes you can
If not, I also own a legal, paid for XP Pro disc. Would I be able to install Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade if I installed XP Pro? (I really do not want to go this route)
Thanks for your time.

Hi and welcome to sevenforums
question 1. Yes you can. We weren't sure untill RTM hit the wild but ppl have been doing exactly that ever since.
Word of advice do a back up (you wont need it) have your vista dvd and restore disks on hand.
95% of ppl have zero problems and the ones they have are minor. Just pays to be prepared
good luck mate
