    Just installed SSD

    Hi

just installed a 128gb ssd to my gaming rig to load things faster ect...

Im currently installing win7 onto the SSD and will then change boot order in BIOS when done...

do I need to remove win7 off my hdd as well or will this not cause an issue having 2 'sets'

If the PC seems to boot and work fine with just the SSD connected, then you can just delete the Windows 7 partition from the old HDD and use the recovered space for storage.

Did you disconnect the HDD before you installed Windows to the SSD?

If this install is brand new, I'd just start over with just the SSD connected.

Okay just did a boot from ssd and its prompted a startup repair, how can I go about wiping my hdd completely and starting fresh as if I've just walked out of a shop? Literally nothing worth keeping

You are probably getting that startup repair message because you did not disconnect the HDD before installing Windows to the SSD. You can fiddle around with that or you can start over, with the HDD disconnected.

May as well start over since Windows can be installed in 30 minutes or less.

I assume you have a legitimate Windows installation disc and a Product Key to activate your installation.

If that is the case, then I would first disconnect the HDD and get Windows running and updated on the SSD.

AFTER that is done, then worry about the HDD.

All you would have to do to the HDD is reformat it, BUT I wouldn't worry about that at all until I had Windows going well on the SSD.

Shall I disconnect HDD now and see if it boots up?

    That's the test. Try it.

If it won't boot, start over.
