Win7 x64 installation on new hdd issue on HP dv7
Hello,
I have a HP dv7-4073nr and it recently crashed. I ran the hard drive tests through BIOS and saw that my hard drive failed the short DST test. So i bought a new hard drive (identical to the one that failed).
After installing the new hard drive i placed a copy of Win 7 home prem. x64 onto my USB to install onto the new hard drive. I get to the "Where do you want to install WIndows?" screen and I am uable to install the OS on the hard drive.
I got the error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
So I try to see what I can do in the BIOS... i restored the settings to default. When I try to take a look at the hard drive, I get the "3F0" error (boot device not found/hard disk not found).
I am quite confused because when I try to install Windows it shows the "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" and I can run diskpart to take a look at it too but I am still unable to install. I have tried looking at the dv7-4073nr drivers but it does not help.
Does anyone know what is wrong? I am not sure how to test if the HDD is DOA.
Thanks
