    Help Reinstalling Windows 7

    Hello everyone,

While I was at university I was given a laptop to help me with my studies because of my dyslexia. This laptop was filled with all sorts of useful programs to help me throughout my time at uni, but now i have left I no longer need all these programs and I would like to do a fresh install of windows 7 on to this laptop.

My question is, as I did not get any kind of restore disk with a serial number for windows on (everything was pre installed) can I reuse the key that was used 1st time around (as I believe it is linked with my motherboard? and if so where on my computer can I find this? Also will there be a serial number somewhere for the microsoft office programs such as word and powerpoint stored on my computer? I am not sure if those disks came with it or not.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Wisp

and I won't have any Windows licensing issues? A friend of mine installed windows on an old laptop of mine and used some kind of key generator and although it said it was genuine i had nothing but problems.

    Thanks

What is the licensed OS version that come with your laptop? Look at the COA sticker on the bottom. If the Product Key is for Win7 and readable you can do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The sticker certifies it's genuine so I don't know why you'd ask.

If not you'll need to reinstall the licensed version or buy a copy of Win7.

Likewise if Office is genuine then you can audit the Product Key with Belarc Advisor to reinstall that same version of Office.

It sounds like your friend involved you in criminal activity. Pirating Win7 is a crime.

I just wanted to make sure it was re-usable on the same system.

And when I started getting warning messages I removed the OS, the OS on my current system is genuine.

    Thank you

The Win7 Product Key audited by Belarc will be a batch key only used at factory, if it has not been activated yet from COA sticker.

    This is explained in
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 tutorial from link for Product Key Number for Windows 7 - Find and See - Windows 7 Help Forums

Ok so I have reinstalled windows and I though I had all the drivers but looks like I missed 4. The only issue is I don't know what they are as there is no real info. I'm sure I can find them on the Acer website if i know what they are. any ideas?
