Win 7 clean install and product key

    Hi.
I have just performed a clean install on a newly purchased HDD.
Windows will not accept my product code for my Windows 7 update. Does this mean I have to purchase a new product key?
Surely I don't have to install Vista and then Windows 7.

    Hello Chris,

Since this is an update copy of Windows 7 and not a retail copy, did you use the method below to clean install to be able to activate?

In addition, see if the error in Option Three is what you are seeing.

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

    Hope this helps, :)
