Windows 7: Installation gets stuck at 0%

Windows XP
Installation gets stuck at 0%

Hi All
I tried to install in August the RC of Windows 7 and had to leave it because I had the same problem I am having now:
I have a msdn subscription and I have downloaded the Win 7 Ultimate, I recorded the ISO in two differents DVD and also I have created the booting USB following the indications of this forum (with UltraISO).
The problem is that the installation app always gets stuck in the screen when it is copying the Windows files. The progress remains at 0% and never changes (after waiting for 3 hours...). It reads:
Copying Windows files (0%) ... and nothing happens.
I can move the cursor and so on, but the DVD drive (or the USB drive) seems to be stopped.
I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2Ghz 2Gb RAM, HD SATA, DVD SATA as well.
Any help??

Give us the exact steps you take before the installation hangs, messages you get, etc. and update your system specs so we will know what hardware you have. I assume you are not trying to upgrade and have formatted the hard drive during installation?

Windows XP

I just run the installer from the DVD or USB, select Language (English-UK), Select partition (C and format the partition, and then, in the screen where you can read 4 or 5 steps, the first step is "Copying Windows Files (0%) ..." the installer doesn't progress from 0%, it remains at 0% for more than 3 hours. The system does not hang, just remains at 0% with the ellipsis blinking.

I've noticed the installations goes really slow. It takes many time to show the Language Selection Screen and the HD and the DVD seem not to be working.

As saying, the computer is an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 2Ghz. 2Gb RAM, and SATA hard disk. The motherboard is an Assus.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Ok here is what I would try, one make sure you have the newest firmware loaded on the machine, then in the bios set everything to the factory settings. removed all extra items from the machine. Try to install with just mobo, cpu, ram 1 stick if you have two, one hard drive, keyboard & mouse even removed all cd/dvd drives. Use the USB install. Have all other items unpluged even your nic wire. and see how this comes out.

Thanks Darkxeno, but the problem persists.
I've unplugged everything but one HD. Default values in the BIOS, booted from USB, only one RAM module, and the same results.

It is weird because the computer has been working fine with Windows XP.

I don't know if it has something to do, but I'm using as a monitor a Flat 26" Screen with RGB input. I can see the screens very well, but I don't know if it is affecting the installation...

My motherboard is an Asus m2v-mx

It still gets stuck in that screen that reads:

Installing Windows...
That's all the information we need right now. Your computer will restart several times during installation.

Copying Windows files (0%) ...
Expanding Windows Files
Installing features
Installing updates
Completing installation

The problem was the floppy disk. After reading in a forum that it was advisable to disable it from the BIOS, the installation now goes fast.. except in the first reboot, where it freeze
I've opened a thread for it.
