    @Melkazen

    Bro thanks a lot.

Both of Asus and Microsoft support failed, but you are hero of the day! Works like a charm!

Hi, Got a problem installing Window 7 on a Window 8 Laptop. Hard drive was physically damaged so I swapped it with a new one. Tried to install Window 7 on this laptop multiple times. End result after complete installation, it would constant restart before the window logo shows up. Latest attempt shown below. Updated Bios. Disabled secure boot, enabled CMS. Format hard drive according to the method in the link below. cant install windows 7 in the preinstalled windows 8 laptop Install Window 7 DVD method (Old Window 7). Note: When trying to create a bootable window 7 USB for installation purpose based on new tools, it stated that my Window 7 iso isn't UEFI compatible. Wasn't aware a new type of Window 7 is out. After setting up Window Update options and Time Zone the laptop restarts. And that is where the constant restart loops happens. After playing catch up with the new UEFI technology, it has been three weeks of my free time, and still no progress.

An intact Win7 ISO should be UEFI compatible so there's a good chance that is a problem. Try a new ISO obtained if necessary following Step 1 in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 and burned to DVD as specfied. Providing your DVD drive is tested with another bootable DVD to work its best to use DVD for UEFI install. If necessary to write flash stick use only Option One in UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows making sure the settings shown in picture don't flip when you add the ISO.

To install to UEFI, turn off Secure Boot in BIOS setup, only enable CSM if there is a UEFI Boot first setting, boot the DVD as a UEFI DVD device. Delete all partitions to reset formatting which may or may not be necessary. UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

If this fails, then let us see the BIOS settings choices pertaining to UEFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS, Secure Boot, BIOS Boot Priority order. Camera snaps are best. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

I have installed windows 7 on several pcs and laptops (without UEFI) with this window 7 DVD without a problem. The problem only occurs with this new UEFI "stuff". What are the steps to disabling the new bells and whistles, so I can install windows the old fashion way. I would not want to deal with 3 partitions when I am troubleshooting computers either.

You can Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7 but I would want to install to EFI first to test all the features of the new BIOS which is now called UEFI Firmware. These include graphical interface, mouse support and faster boot.

I gave you steps to sort out UEFI settings if you're inclined, if not you may still need to adjust those settings to install to Legacy and disable UEFI.

I have got a ASUS xx550LAV xx731D laptop. I have managed to install WIn 7 using USB . My problem is regarding the drivers.
The Driver CD provided with the system supports only Win 8.1 and hence not working. I need all drivers eg WLAN,LAN etc
    How do I proceed?

Moreover, when I was looking into the Asus Driver page, for all drivers of Win 7 it was asking if it is being upgraded to Win 8.....will win 7 not work on this model?

    Version V7.061.0612.2012
    Description Realtek LAN Driver
If you want to upgrade your OS from Win 7 to Win 8,to prevent software compatibility issue, please uninstall the older version driver before install the newer version driver

There is a supposedly open-source free download site which says it has the full Win7 driverpack for your model for download after watching a 60 second ad. Since I'd not seen it before I decided to try it and downloaded their 7 Driver Pack Downloader for your model. I then test-downloaded the two listed WLAN (Wireless) drivers and have uploaded them for you to download, extract and try installing now: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=365EA77F74A302F6!1081956&authkey=!AHUr17aldbTROPM&ithint=folder%2c

If this works then Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Step 3), connect to the internet to Check for Windows Updates, install all Important and Optional Updates until no more are offered. This should deliver most drivers that Win7 wants. Any missing can then be imported from the same place: Ultrabook Asus X550LC. Download drivers for Windows 7 / Windows 8 (32/64-bit) – DriversFree.org

Otherwise If you don't have network connectivity now, Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Step 3), plug in by ethernet cable to see if it loads the driver in bottom right system tray since more Ethernet drivers are in the Win7 driverstore than wireless.

If not then trace the Hardware Identification in Device Manager for both network adapters, google for the exact make and model adapters + WIndows 7 drivers. If nothing turns up then post back the Hardware ID's for us to help you find those drivers.

Once you connect, immediately Check for Updates and install all Important and Optional Updates, with requested reboots, until no more are offered.

For the few remaining missing drivers then in Device Manager, google or trace their hardware ID to find the Win7 driver, or ask back here for help.

More information on how to get and then keep a perfect Win7 install in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 where the driver steps are so important they are printed in red, and have worked for 1.4+ million consumers without a single complaint.

I hate to keep dredging up an old thread. Sorry about that.

I have an Asus x551ma. I have flashed the BIOS almost back to the stone age (build 291.) The options get sparser as I go back in time but I never come up with OS selection as an option. I'd like to run W7x86 without EFI or boot manager on this stupid laptop but it's sure making it hard.

Has anyone tried to flash Melkazen's x552m BIOS into an X551m and was it successful?

I'm only asking because the thread began with an x551m question and this was presented as a solution.

    Thanks in advance.

    WR
