A new laptop will have UEFI BIOS if so you'll need to follow the steps in UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums, and more special steps if you're using USB installer in Option One here: UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows.

If this still fails even when booting the installer as a UEFI device and deleting all partitions first, or shrinking C to create a new partition if you want to dual boot with the OS on there, then check the BIOS settings for Secure Boot which must be disabled, any UEFI or CSM which may need enabling, and Legacy BIOS or Boot which may need disabling. Post back a camera snap of all choices if you're unsure.

If this becomes too much to bother with any longer then you can also Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7 which always works.

Do not type random kneejerk commands, only follow those given exactly. Are you trying to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7? The commands couldn't be more plainly written out.

If not then try the steps in Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums.

If problems persist test your HD with the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

Is your PC overheating? It shouldn't just shut down like that?

Reset your BIOS by one of the methods here: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS.

Then turn off Secure Boot in BIOS setup, try the install again at default settings booting the installer as a UEFI DVD, follow steps in UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums, post back exact error or failure behavior.

ACPI trouble

Windows 8.1, trying to downgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I am experiencing nearly the same problem as OP - same laptop, same goal of installing Windows 7, except I am getting a blue screen upon the windows 7 install loading screen, which says:

Quote:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS. Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x0000001D,0x00000000,0x00000000)
This was when booting from USB or DVD, not in UEFI "mode" - meaning, I turned off a few options in the BIOS (fast booting was turned off, CMS was turned on, Secure Boot was turned off).

When I tried creating a UEFI bootable USB drive by following the steps here, and booting from this USB drive, the system just presents the boot menu again, and if I select the USB option again, it loads up Windows 8 (so it seems to be not recognizing the USB as "bootable").

I looked at the available BIOS updates, but none seemed relevant, and I'm not sure what to do with the .510 files that it provides - maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Thanks for any help!
