Did they say why the Kingston problem stick works when it is installed by itself, but causes startup failure when it is added to the other RAM?

Give it a good workout with that single Kingston stick so you know when you call them Monday it is best for that machine.

If they say the other sticks are the problem, they may want to sell you replacements. But as torrentg said, a gig should be enough to run Win7. So you can try what you've got and shop for awhile with the exact specs they give you to find a better price on buy.com, etc.

It works itself, but doesn't work with the acer's ram. i might sell my old ram on craigslist and get new ones 2 GB sticks, i looked on the nanya webiste(thats the brand that the computer gave me) they don't make my type of ram anymore. and i can't find anywhere to buy it. or use the old one and run windows 7 64bit with 3 GB ram and save the money for later.

Try calling Acer and tell them the RAM that came with the computer doesn't work right and see if they will help you replace it. Kingston might also have a good deal for another couple of gigs so see what they say on Monday.

the more specs you put in the easier it is to HELP.
