Yes I have a DVD drive in my ASUS laptop. That was the main reason I picked that model. The HD was not ID by the BIOS or at least nothing I recognized. Just a list of letters and numbers. I did use GPacked to remove all partitions on the drive. I see lots of warnings about NOT flashing the BIOS unless you know what your doing as you can kill the motherboard. Seems like I've accomplished the same feat. Running out of new ideas but I'll keep looking. Thanks for your efforts.
I don't think you have a big problem. It's just that you aren't that skilled at dealing with the BIOS.
If you follow instructions, your problems will go away and your new laptop will be running Win 7.
What is the make and model of your hdd?
Unskilled at dealing with BIOS the truth. Been fooling with computers since the earyl 80's but it seems I haven't learned very much. The HD is a 500 GB HGST (Western Digital) Model HTS545050A. I will follow instructions gladly if it will return my laptop to working order.
Is your hdd made by Western Digital or Hitachi? A Google search of your model indicates Hitachi. Did Hitachi sell their hdd group to Western Digital?
Download the hdd utility from the hdd manufacturer's website and do a full erase or low level format of your drive to remove all partitions.

Go to the Western Digital support website and download the hdd utility to full erase or low level format your Hitachi rebranded Western Digital hdd.

Download the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS from the link below and follow the instructions to create a DOS bootable USB to run the utility to full erase or write zeros to drive.

2. Create a DOS bootable USB following these instructions.
3. Boot from the USB. Make sure that your boot order in your Bios is set to boot from the USB drive first.
4. At DOS prompt type dlgdiag5.exe to run the program.WRITE ZEROS TO DRIVE - The Write Zeros option, wipes all data off your drive. This option used when your data is no longer usable or recoverable. If you no longer need any data from your drive and would like to start over, run this option to set your drive to an as new condition. NOTE: Please make sure that you have selected the correct drive to perform this function on as once ran, no data will be recoverable.

Some good news for a change. It never came to mind about trying to reinstall Win8 until my brother suggested it. My laptop didn't come with any disc so even though I am the rightful user I don't deserve a Win8 of my own. I used his disc and it installed 8. No error windows and any problem. I'm at the part now where I have to sign up for a e-mail/internet account. The set up will not take my old address. It needs a new one through Outlook.com or Hotmail, something like that. I will try to do that now but just wanted to keep you up to date on progress. Hopefully setting up the new account will go ok.
Do you still want to install Win 7? If so, you'll need to do a full erase as I described above.

To upgrade a Win8 PC to Win7 you must boot into BIOS setup, often through the Win8 GUI which if its still installed is the only way to access BIOS, turn off Secure Boot and then enable CSM or Legacy BIOS to some degree to allow Win7 or another OS to be installed. This is described in Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7.
The installation media then needs to be booted as a UEFI device if you want UEFI install, deleting all partitions during the install to UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with.
The UEFI install can always be done but sometimes Users don't' want to take the time to find the correct BIOS settings so decide to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7. In this case you fully enable CSM or Legacy BIOS, then boot your installation media as a non-UEFI device, delete all partitions during the install.
If Win8 is still installed on the drive it may be necessary to enter BIOS setup via the Win8 Boot Options Menu: How To Access The BIOS On A Windows 8 Computer
Once Win8 is gone it reverts to accessing your BIOS by tapping the F-key.
