Zone Alarm in registry interfering with installation Trying to install Win 7, and all is well until it checks compatability, and it says I have to remove Zone Alarm.
I don't remember ever installing Zone Alarm on this computer. I couldn't find any signs of it anywhere on the hard drive. I searched all over the web for different file names I should search for, but there are none on this computer....except when I run regedit, and under Legacy Dsvatant, there are two instances of Zone Alarm but I can't delete them. It won't allow me to remove them.
Any ideas what I should do? Should I install Zone Alarm and then remove it? I've cleaned everything else out. Can't wait to get rid of Vista, and this is so frustrating.
Thanks. I appreciate any help. I've been trying all day. | My System Specs |

OS XP, Seven, 2008R2 CPU AMD, Intel, VIA Motherboard Various Memory Corsair, Kingston, etc. Graphics Card ATI, NVIDIA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard qwerty Hard Drives Maxtor, Western Digital Internet Speed 22 Mb/s @ home, 1 Gb/s @ server Other Info All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality. |

Any idea if Registry Mechanic might be what's causing the problem? I think that's put out now by the ZA people. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio 540 OS Vista 64 bit but trying to install Win 7 CPU Intel 2 Quad Motherboard ? I just removed all of Registry Mechanic. I'll see if that maybe makes a difference. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Studio 540 OS Vista 64 bit but trying to install Win 7 CPU Intel 2 Quad Motherboard ? I do not know if this will work, so others please confirm/deny this. Is it possible that he could save his Easy Transfer file to his desktop, do a clean install over the current installation, and then retrieve his file from Windows.old? It sounds possible, but is it advisable? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD
