Deleting XP from my dual boot system = question(s)

Hi Guys
I now wish to delete WinXP from my dual boot system. I am confident that I can remove the XP partition using AOMEI partition assistant. HOWEVER -
I am aware that if I do this, the win7 partition will not (of itself) be able to boot up?

I believe I am correct in saying that my present xp partition contains certain boot process files/content - that (when a dual boot system is established) is not present on the win7 partition.

It could be that I have got this totally wrong? - or, if I am correct, what do I need to add to the Win7 installation prior to removing XP - to successfully complete XP removal.
I hope this is not too confused, and makes sense - my computer literacy is just average, and this will be new ground for me. Look forward to receiving your comments.

Forgot to mention - I do have my Win7 Installation disk

so you are having windows xp and 7 on separate partitions?if so then
backup any important data
install easybcd.
go to edit boot menu
there select XP and delelte it.and click save.
then right click mycomputer>manage>disk management
select your xp partition and right click and format..
restart to see the effect.

Sorry, I just feel somewhat cautious about the above suggestion. It does not seem that I am 'arming' the win7 installation with the necessary boot info/capability.

u are too much cautious.dont worry nothing will happen to win7..

the above steps that i told u will do the following
>>the easybcd will remove the boot entry of only XP from the bootloader{the black and white screen which let u choose xp or windows}
which means your xp partition is now just like any other data partitions..
>>the disk management step will delete the xp file on its partition. it wont do anything to win 7.after formating either u can merge this partition to win 7 or to any other patition or use it as separate partition.

because the removal of XP or any other OS is way easy than installation doesnt mean that the process is wrong..what do u want, a really sophisticated nerdy process.

You may easily uninstall Xp from dual boot system by OS UNINSTALLER , after that u need to fix boot loader that u can do with any boot repair disc iso if you don't know about commands .

After this is done ur win7 will boot with no problems .

I suggest you this because you are a average & its easy to use GUI than DOS for you .

Thank you all for your patience - we will get there in the end. I seem to be getting paranoid about this, there being to my mind conflicting instructions.
Big guy seems to suggest the removal of the XP partition full stop, and all will be well!
Whereas others confirm that this is not where it ends.

I do in fact have a win7 system repair disk (created via win7 backup & restore window) - will this suffice?
If so, do I go into the bios and set the boot up order to DVD as the first boot device, OR will a restart throw up the necessary window to follow if it will not boot into windows.
Gregrocker asks - Do you want to add XP's partition space to Windows 7, or format a new partition where XP is? The answer is that I wish to add the xp partition space to windows 7.
