They have (or had, dunno any longer) a whole write up on it that the general public could access.
It's not like we're telling you some secret information. You might not have been able to find it easily. That I can believe for sure.

But my point is....upgrade and be happy. Too much other stuff in life to worry about.

I really wasn't calling you idiot or anything like that. Just explaining why I think Microsoft disabled upgrade for most average users that did not take time to go out of their way and research.

I think they did the right thing based on reasons I said.

I have no complaints about the advice given me here or in the pm. My concern isn't with this Board but in MSFT's cavalier attitude toward those who bought into the Win 7 preview come on and then decided to buy the product.

I'm ok following the upgrade steps however most are not. They are not capable due to feeling queasy about taking steps outside the mfg's instructions or, for the huge majority, not finding a place like this Board with the information contained herein.

In the end, I don't have a quibble with this Board or the advice given me. Just the opposite. I'm[ grateful to this board and those who've contributed to this thread.

I do have a huge quibble that this information isn't avaiable at the MSFT site.
Slide, the point you are missing is that upgrades are NEVER, EVER, EVER a good idea. Period. End of story. Upgrade = Bad. Just say no. Don't do it. Clean install EVERY time.

AND, Microsoft has ALWAYS advised that you should NEVER upgrade from a beta or RC to RTM. They have always said you would need to install clean. In fact, everyhing I read said it wouldn't be possible.
