    resetting win 7

I have a dell 64 bit notebook that has become really slow and I'd like to put it back to its original state (no file data needs saving).

I don't have a disk but it does have a Win 7 Home Premium certificate on the back.

I seem to remember the last time I did this I had to call Microsoft and get another key but not sure.

(each time I try and create a system repair disk it doesn't complete)
(pressing F8 or fn+F8 at start up does nothing)

Any suggestion what I should do?

Shall we try to speed it up first?

    and see if that helps?

    Okay brilliant,

       Warning
Back up before performing any of these steps

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    • run "MSCONFIG" From the run command "Windows key + R" scroll across to start up items, and disable anything you dont need to run when you turn on the computer.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perform a Full Virus scan with Malware Bytes and Avast, and post results before you remove anything.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download CCleaner and run a clean up.
When Cleaning up your registry be sure to back up

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Post back after and i will give you some more tips.

Your key on the COA can be used again and again.

Just wanted to let HIM know.

dalai, why are you trying to create a system repair disc ?

If you have a Recovery partition, you can use that to restore windows to it`s "original state". Like when you first go it.

When you turn on the machine it should show you which key to push to start the Recovery process.
