You can't upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, you need to do a Clean install.
Before you do this, backup your data as you will lose it otherwise.

The above tutorial is valid for changing from 32 to 64 bit also.
And of course you must boot the installer and not run it from Windows.
Read the tutorial you were provided which will assure you get and keep a perfect install.
