Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll post more information when I get the chance.

Your first post says you have 6GB RAM, so I'm assuming your installing Win7 64bit.

Actually, I only have 4GB of RAM. One of the RAM sticks was faulty, leaving me with only 4GB of RAM. I've only done the 32bit installation... I don't trust the driver support for 64bit.

    Your system spec says 32bit.
    Is it 32bit or 64bit?

    32bit

Do you have the Upgrade version or the Full Retail?

    Upgrade Version

I'll give you a couple of things to try, but we can help you more if you can tell us what you have done so far, this Seven Forums sticky thread has a list of the questions we're looking for, Questions to use for help with Installation Issues, answer as many as you can. This will give us a better idea where to start.

I'll provide this information when I can

What are you using to install with, MS DVD, D/L ISO file burned to DVD or USB?

    MS Upgrade DVD

    Have you updated your BIOS?
Load new BIOS and set everything to defaults.

The BIOS was upgraded when I built the rig 1 month ago...however, I have not checked to see if there is a newer version due to the release of Windows 7

Are you using a DVI cable?
Use a VGA cable if you can. If you don't have on board graphics or a VGA connection you should try to borrow a graphics card that does. We have seen problems with the DVI cable.

I am using a DVI cable. I do not have onboard VGA nor an older card that takes VGA. I do, however, have an older NVIDIA card (8800GTX Ultra) that IS on the supported video card list.

Take out all but one RAM card.

    Will do.

Any over clocking of GPU, CPU or RAM?
    Set all to defaults.

No overclocking or anything... I'm not an over-clocker.

If there are any energy saving settings in the BIOS for the CPU, turn off if possible.

AMD Cool 'n Quiet might be active. I'll be sure to disable this.

SC, I can't say one memroy stick and no video card works consistently, but it is a solution I have seen working in some cases.

The onboard LAN card is also a known reason for problems. Disable it in your BIOS before you try to install

Talking about BIOS, do you have the most updated one?

Let us know if you make more progress
I'll make sure that I disable the on-board LAN as well, thank you for this info.

64 bit OS have been out for long enough that driver problems are pretty much a thing of the past. All Vista 64bit drivers will work with Win7 64bit.

32bit works very well and is a good choice.

Should be ok, but I would check as new BIOS are coming out due to the Win7 release.

AMD Cool 'n Quiet will need to be disabled. This has caused several installs to fail.

I would disconnect the HD that's not required for the installation.
To be on the safe side I would also disconnect the old IDE CD player.

Be sure to dis-connect all peripherals, leave only monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Leaving anything connected can cause a failure, especially a USB device.

If your going to do a Custom install with the Upgrade DVD check this Seven Forums tutorial Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version.

And the Clean Installation with Windows 7 for a reference.

Try these suggestions and let us know how it goes.

Thank you everyone! I've gotten 7 to install!

However, I had to remove the Radeon Card... the screen went black again where it normally would. I removed the Radeon Card and installed the 8800 GTX and BAM! It loads and finishes Windows 7 install.

NOW, I have a different issue.

My first restart of the system I get this error before it even goes to load Windows:

    "BOOTMGR is missing".

I've read in another thread that I should make sure that my C drive is Disk #1 in the BIOS and run a repair using the Windows 7 Upgrade DVD.

Any other suggestions while I run this 3x?

Just as an update, everything else installed with no issues.

    However... this:

    SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported

I am deeming incompatible to Windows 7. It wouldn't even boot up with it. Put the Nvidia 8800 GTX Ultra in and it works like a charm.

    Your welcome.

Glad that you got Win7 installed.

Did you D/L the latest driver?
ATI site recommends ATI Catalyst™ 9.10 Suite for Windows 7 (32-bit).
Install the driver, shutdown, install the ATI card and restart.

I think your ATI graphics card installation issue might be due to your 32bit OS, 4GB RAM installed and another 2GB RAM on your ATI card.

32bit OS has only 4GB of address space, and some of that will be used for other things besides RAM.

Will look into this some more and let you know.

    EDIT:
    To test this you can:
    Go to start button
    Type 'msconfig' hit enter
    Click Boot tab
    Advanced Options
In the upper right corner, check the box 'Maximum memory:'
Put 2048 (mb) in the box below it.
This will limit your RAM to 2GB

Try to install the ATI graphics card.
If it installs then the above is the problem.
Then go back and un-check the 'Maximum memory:' box.

If it doesn't work, don't forget to go back and un-check the 'Maximum memory:' box.

You might try to start a new thread in the Graphic Cards Forum, should be more responses.
