I need help in changing the way OneDrive is setup
I'll try to keep this short.
I was having a sync problem between my PC and Onedrive. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue on my own I turned to Microsoft chat for help. I told them that I wanted to sync a few specific folders from My Docs to Onedrive so I could access them when I am travelling. I gave them remote access and they directed my entire My Documents folder to OneDrive (Barney/OneDrive/MyDocuments).
When I told them that wasn't what I wanted they made a copy of the My Doc folder and set the copy to Barney/My Documents but they left the original My Document folder under OneDrive.
My Documents folder is huge (161 GB) and there are only about 9 folders that are critical for me. While the other folders can't be deleted there hasn't been any activity in most for at least 3 years.
I thought about just deletling folders from the OneDrive/My Doc but I realized that could be problematic since I think there is something wrong with the copy Barney/My Doc.
The original folder is 161 GB with 61,822b files and 4482 folders. The copy has 71 GB with 9292 files and 4493 folders. When I look through the various folders under each version of My Doc they appear to be the same but the differnce shown in properties is glaring. My assumption is that some of the files must be corrupted in the copy.
The biggest issue though is I can barely work on my computer. My upload speed is 1.5 at that rate it will take literally months to sync the data. But it's not the time that's an issue, it's that I can't scheuke when OneDrive syncs so it just continues to run in the background and it's just slowing everything down.
What would be ideal to me:
Move the Original My Doc Folder back to its orinal place
Delete the copy of My Doc
Setup up only those folders I need to sync with OneDrive
Any help on how to accomplish this would be appreciated besides any suggestion to return to Microsoft for help.
