Trying to pull Windows 7 Key from HDD Partition that repeatedly BSOD

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit partition that after the Windows logo pulls up on start it goes to the BSOD. This happens in every attempt at boot(Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, etc).

I split the space and created a new partition with the same OS version and it works fine. Problem is that I would like to pull the Product Key out of the bad partition.

I have used produkey which returns an error "Client does not have privilege" running as Full Admin(Logged in as Admin and right-click>Run as Admin).

I have gotten the same error with Magic Jellybean(which I fixed by running as admin), but now getting the error that the D:\Windows\System32\config\software cannot be found, I've attempted the same location on the C: partition(Which is the partition I am currently on) and same result, therefore I think it is an issue with the program itself.

I know there are a lot of topics out there with similar issues, and I've been searching for 3+ hours, but I cannot find an article that works for me, thus the reason I am posting for assistance.

Oh also, I have given the Admin User ownership of the D:\ Drive as well.

If this is still the factory install then that key will not work to activate as it's a batch key used at factory. Use the key on the COA sticker attached to PC.

Follow these same steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

This is a custom built PC actually. It was upgraded by parts as well as an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on the partition that I am trying to get the Key from. The case has the Vista Product Key on it still.

Oh I bought this PC was built after the upgrades as well.

You can Clean Install Windows 7 with the Upgrade version. When the installer is booted it should see an OS on the driver to allow Upgrade key, even if you then go on to delete all other partitions to get the cleanest install.

You might want to start however by booting Partition Wizard CD to shrink C to make a new partition on the left side for the reinstall so that you have access to all of your data on C including hidden data (like Windows Mail or Bookmarks) that is all listed to remember in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you start with a new or wiped HD with no OS on it, then your Upgrade key may be rejected during install, in which case you should leave it blank then after install do the quick Option 3 workaround given in Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version to activate Upgrade version on a cleaned or new HD.
