Moving Bootloader from HDD to New SSD With Fresh W7 Install

I recently installed a new SSD and installed windows 7 on it, with the hope of then formatting my current primary drive, however, i neglected to think about the current location of the bootloader, which is on said primary drive. I have created a 100MB space for it on the new SSD, and a suggested method i found online was copy the /boot directory to the SSD and do bcdedit /export X:\boot\bcd.

While CMD confirmed successful operation, i see no evidence that it worked, has this done anything to the new install of windows? also, what is a better way for me to transfer the bootloader to the new drive?

EDIT: i have a UEFI BIOS, so will i need to create an EFI bootloader space?

    Thanks

Will the SSD boot the PC with the old drive disconnected? If yes, I'd say that's the evidence you need.

Where did you find that solution? Certainly not here.

Normally you'd unplug all HD's during any OS install. If not you'd need to first move the Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD - Windows 7 Forums before unplugging the other HD.

But it would be best now to post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image
so we can advise you how to move the Bootmgr correctly, since the standard solution might not work if its been messed up further.

As suggested, unplug everything but the ssd, re install windows. Create and align partition out of the entire ssd for windows, you don`t need a system reserved partition, it`s a waste of time.

Make and use a Partition Wizard Boot CD to do all of this, works perfectly, every time :)

It can also be done with your windows 7 install dvd and diskpart.

Here is my current drive arrangement. i need to move the bootloader from disk 2 to disk 0. surely there has to be an easier way than unplugging all the other drives and reinstalling windows again?

EDIT: Thanks greg for the EasyBCD suggestion, trying now will report back on how it goes.
